Post Event Update!

Thanks to everyone who baked, bought and ate cakes: we had lots of very tasty offerings to tempt people to part with their money! We raised £246.85 in donations, which NCF decided to ’round up’ to £300. This has now been passed on to Wessex Cancer Support and we received this lovely certificate in recognition of our efforts.
Networking Chandler’s Ford are delighted to be teaming up with our friends from Alston House Care Home to host a Cakes4Cancer morning on Friday 15th August. It will be open house for anyone to call in between 11am and 1.30pm to eat cake in aid of Wessex Cancer Support.

What’s happening?
We’re all baking (and buying) a selection of sweet treats to tempt people to part with their money to support this great local cause. We’ll be providing the cakes (and cookies and slices and muffins…) and the lovely team at Alston House will be providing a selection of hot drinks. Anyone is welcome to drop by between 11am and 1.30pm to do their bit by indulging! We will have a donations tin, a guess the muffins game and a Gift Aid form so – if you’re a UK taxpayer – you can give your donation a boost. You don’t have to be a member of NCF, a local business or an Alston House resident to come along – we are open to anyone and everyone who likes cake!
Why Wessex Cancer Support?
One of the lovely fundraising team from Wessex Cancer Support presented to one of our networking meetings earlier this year. Many of our members didn’t realise just how much they do to support anyone going through cancer (and often their families and carers, too) or that they are based in Chandler’s Ford. Their ‘Cakes4Cancer’ fundraising campaign ran during May this year – as it does most years – a little late for us to get organised in time for that. But, never to be put off, we decided that there is always an excuse to eat cake (and better late than never!). So we are a group of local businesses coming together to support a local good cause.

How you can help us help them
There are lots of ways that you could help us to support Wessex Cancer:
Before hand – if you can make or buy some cakes or bakes to contribute to our stall, we’d love to take your donation! You can either drop them to Alston House (securely wrapped and labelled) the day before or on the Friday morning (we’ll be setting up from 10.30am). It is helpful if you can label what you have made with the ingredients so we can be aware of any allergens but this is not essential.
During the morning – please come along and eat cake! Please bring plenty of loose change so you can support our cause and buy lots of our lovely cakes. (Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to take credit cards so it will be cash only). You don’t have to tell us that you’re coming but you can book into our free event on Eventbrite, here.
At any time – you can make a donation (and Gift Aid it, if relevant) to Networking Chandler’s Ford to add to our Cakes4Cancer fund. Please email us for our bank details if you’d like to.
About our venue
If you know Eastleigh town centre, you will probably know that the old Eastleigh Central Police Station has now been converted into a lovely residential home. It is called Alston House and is run by the Hamberley Care Homes group. If you’ve never had the chance to visit, this is your excuse! They have done a lovely job of turning the old Police building itself into some of the social spaces and have added a sympathetic and purpose residential wing at the back and side of the existing building. There is also a good amount of free parking on site (accessible via Toynbee Road) so there should be room for us all!
Alston House is at 18-24 Leigh Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire , SO50 9DG. We hope to see you there!
